The Mill Valley Library is now open for curbside pickup. Any cardholder with holds ready for pickup is able to use the service.

Sunday Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday
12pm - 5pm 11am - 5pm 11am - 5pm 11am - 5pm 11am - 5pm 11am - 5pm 12pm - 5pm

How to Use the Service

  • Place items on hold by using the catalog, calling 415-389-4292, or by emailing
  • Most holds placed on items available at the Mill Valley Library will be fulfilled within the hour, but items requested from other libraries may take longer than usual to arrive.
  • Once you’ve been notified that your items are available for pickup, come to the Library.
  • We have spots reserved out front for vehicles, and clearly-marked, socially-distanced waiting areas for those who walk or bike to pick up their holds.
  • Once at the Library, call our curbside line at 415-384-4731 or use our intercom to let Library staff know you’re out front. Library staff will verify your information over the phone, check out your materials, and bring them outside to a designated pickup area.
  • Once the staff member has stepped away, you can collect your items.
  • Tables will be re-sanitized after materials are collected.
  • Please do not linger in the area where patrons will be picking up books and adhere to our clearly marked, social distancing signage.
  • Borrowed materials should be returned to book drop outside the front door of the Library. At this time, our return bin at the Mill Valley Community Center and lower book drop remain closed.

Our staff are wearing masks, washing their hands frequently, and practicing social distancing to protect your safety. Please return the favor by wearing a mask and maintaining 6-foot distancing when picking up materials.
