Poetry Reading Series: Maurya Simon and Amber Flora Thomas

Thursday, November 14th | 7:00pm

Our collaboration with the Marin Poetry Center is cause for celebration. They’re bringing us fabulous events, like this series, which provides a unique opportunity to hear diverse and unusual sets of readers, pairing local and out of state or out of country poets.

Maurya Simon has received a National Endowment for the Arts fellowship and has been a Fulbright Fellow in India. She has taught at UC Riverside, Caltech, and at the Claremont Colleges and has published 10 books of poetry. Her poetry often combines the natural world with spirituality and metaphysics and her writing is enriched by the classics and art.

Amber Flora Thomas, a former Marin resident, now teaches in North Carolina. She received the 2004 Cave Canem Poetry Prize, the Ann Stanford Poetry Prize, and the Rella Lossy Poetry Award and an individual artist grant from the Marin Arts Council. Her three books of poetry reflect the pathos and brutality of living things.
