Mycorrhizae play important roles in plant nutrition, soil biology and soil chemistry.
Doors open for mushroom identification at 6:30pm, followed by the mushroom talk at 7:00pm.
Join J.R. Blair as he discusses the symbiotic relationships between fungi and plants called mycorrhizae. Plants benefit from this relationship with improved nutrient efficiency, root system growth, and increased water absorption. This talk will be of interest to gardeners and fungi enthusiasts alike.
Blair is a lecturer in biology at San Francisco State University and the director of the SFSU Sierra Nevada Field Campus near Yuba Pass. He has been a member of the Mycological Society of San Francisco since 1983.
