3D Printing in Action

Thursday, January 17th | 4:00 - 5:00pm

How, you might ask, does 3D printing work? Find out at 3D Printing in Action, a drop-in session where Library staff will give you an overview of the process.

It all starts with a 3D model created in software. Build, sculpt, and fine-tune your creation and view it from all angles. Once your masterpiece is complete, it is sent to “slicing” software to prepare for printing. Here, get a preview of the printing procedure, check your model for errors, and split your print into easier pieces if need be.

Then, the magic happens. Your model is translated into code for the printer and the machine goes to work. A few hours later, your dream has become reality.

See all this, and the models we’ve printed so far. Request a souvenir from our library of options and we’ll print it for later pickup. Take this opportunity to see the possibilities of this emerging technology and inquire about our series of 3D printing classes.
