Filmmaker Slick presents her documentary on Ethel Seiderman, a long-term Marin resident who founded Parent Services Project, a national non-profit that changed the face of early childhood education for the underprivileged.
Ethel’s life was shaped by the notion of giving early on, growing up in a family that emphasized “Tzedakah” (charity). Retiring from her foundation in her late 70s, she was active in many humanistic and leadership causes, remaining a passionate advocate for the young until her death at 84.
The Fairfax-San Anselmo Children’s Center she founded still serves the county. The College of Marin is naming its new Early Childhood Education Center for Ethel, reflecting the impact of her philosophies of early childhood education on the educational landscape of the country.
