Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) 2013 Awards
On February 10, 2014, "Mothers Against Drunk Driving" (MADD) recognized and awarded two law enforcement officers from the Mill Valley Police Department, Corporal Shaun McCracken and Officer Kyle Maxwell, for their diligence in DUI enforcement during the past year. Several other officers from Marin, Sonoma, and Napa county law enforcement agencies were also honored.
Corporal McCracken arrested 11 DUI suspects and Officer Maxwell arrested 12 DUI suspects during 2013. Both Corporal McCracken and Officer Maxwell received MADD awards for their enforcement work in 2012. In total, the Mill Valley Police Department made 43 DUI arrests in calendar year 2013.
The Mill Valley Police Department's DUI enforcement efforts were partly made in conjunction with the "Marin Avoid the 13" program where agencies participate throughout the County to crack down on DUI drivers by conducting DUI check points and active roving patrols. Mill Valley PD's Traffic Division is headed by Sergeant Mike Lane who also coordinated participation in this year's MADD event.
Founded by a mother whose daughter was killed by a drunk driver in 1980, Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) is the nation's largest nonprofit working to protect families from drunk driving and underage drinking. MADD programs help achieve its lifesaving mission.
