At their regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, February 3, 2014, the Mill Valley City Council will receive a preliminary introductory presentation on the Miller Avenue Streetscape Project Implementation Plan. The intention of this initial overview is to provide the Council with an informal update on the project and for the Council to offer initial input and direction prior to a formal public presentation in the spring.
After Monday night’s meeting, the City will initiate a comprehensive public outreach effort to inform the community of the project and to solicit input and suggestions. The Miller Avenue Streetscape Project Implementation Plan will then be presented to the City Council’s agenda in the spring for public discussion and Council direction.
Guided by its Core Values to preserve health and safety and the community's high quality of life, the Mill Valley City Council established the maintenance and enhancement of City infrastructure as one of its Key Issues. The community echoed its commitment to this objective by approving the Miller Avenue Streetscape Plan after an extensive public process involving residents, business owners, and other stakeholders. The City Council adopted the Miller Avenue Streetscape Implementation plan as one of their Priority Projects for 2012-2014.
Construction design for the Miller Avenue Streetscape Project is currently underway with interim improvements planned for this spring and formal project construction to commence in 2015.
The informational presentation to the City Council on February 3 will include an update on the project, a preliminary cost estimate, and scope options, which include design approaches to provide the multi-modal “Complete Streets” elements within the approved project budget. No action will be taken by the Council at this meeting; the meeting is intended to provide the City Council with an update on the project status and introduction of design and phasing options and cost estimate ranges.
We will organize separate meetings with business owners along the corridor and with neighborhood groups to review the progress and to provide opportunities to give input over the next several weeks. We encourage community members to use the following methods to stay informed of the upcoming meeting this spring and all other project updates:
