Protect yourself during an Earthquake!
|Get Ready to ShakeOut! |
The Great California ShakeOut Annual Statewide Earthquake Drill
At 10:17 am on Thursday, October 17th, nearly 23.1 million people worldwide will participate in the largest earthquake drill EVER. Including 9.3 million California residents who will practice a Drop, Cover and Hold on Drill at the same time. They will duck under a table or desk, cover heads/necks with their hands and hold on to the leg of the table, so if the table moves, they move with it. The U.S. Geological Survey tells us that there is a 62% chance of a magnitude 6.7 or greater earthquake in the Bay Area in the next 25 years. That could be tomorrow or in 25 years. The Mill Valley Fire Department and Emergency Preparedness Commission encourages all of us to be self sufficient and disaster resilient for several days.
Please consider registering yourself, your family and even your business or interest group online a ShakeOut 2013.
