The Friends of the Mill Valley Library presents Monday Night at the Movies. This month the Friends will present three films helmed by women directors.

Monday, July 14th @ 7:30 PM

Nora Ephron - Julie and Julia (2009)

Written and directed by Nora Ephron, Julia Child’s story of her start in the cooking profession is intertwined with blogger Julie Powell’s attempt to cook all 524 recipes in Child’s first book, “Mastering the Art of French Cooking.” Julia Child is played by Meryl Streep, Julie Powell by Amy Adams. Ephron wrote the screenplay by combining Child’s memoir and Powell’s blog, the first time a film had been adapted from a blog. As a writer Ephron was nominated for three Oscars. “I try to write parts for women that are as complicated and interesting as women actually are.”

Doors open at 7:00. This series is sponsored by The Friends of the Mill Valley Library. For more Programs and Events at the Library, see the Library Events Calendar.
