The Friends of the Mill Valley Library presents Monday Night at the Movies. This month the Friends will present three films featuring actor Dustin Hoffman.

Monday, June 16th @ 7:30 PM

Rain Man (1988)

Charlie (Tom Cruise) is a yuppie hustler who learns his estranged father has left him nothing and left  $3 million to a brother he never knew he had – Raymond (Dustin Hoffman), who has autism and lives in an  institution. Charles decides to kidnap Raymond in an effort to get the inheritance and they set off  driving across country. Hoffman’s character Raymond is a compendium of rituals, twitches, phobias and  tourette-like repetitive utterances that drive Charlie crazy. What happens? After using Raymond’s  mathematical skills in Las Vegas, the two brothers begin to form a relationship that in the end goes  beyond money. Hoffman won the Oscar for Best Actor and Barry Levinson won for Best Director. Rain Man also won Oscars for Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay. It was also nominated for Best Art Direction,  Best Cinematography, Best Editing and Best Music.

Doors open at 7:00. This series is sponsored by The Friends of the Mill Valley Library. For more Programs and Events at the Library, see the Library Events Calendar.
