First Thursday: Slam Poetry Workshop
Thursday, November 7th, 2013

High school students only.

Jazz Hudson has been rocking East Bay mics since the eighth grade. From her first writer’s workshop at the West Oakland Library — where her father sent her to “curb that mouth of hers” — she has performed everywhere from the streets of Oakland and Richmond to the national stage. Jazz will help students refine pieces already in progress or come up with something new—perhaps something for the Slam Poetry Competition in March.

Space is limited and registration is required. Register at

Check out Jazz’s work at

“Jazz is one of the new up and coming poets out of the Bay who has been making a name for herself at poetry readings over the last few years. Jazz is definitely one of the most loquacious and passionate young sistas to come out of the concrete jungle of Oakland in a long time.” SF Bay View

Thank you to the Mill Valley Library Foundation and the Friends for their generous support of Library programs and services.
