After Hours: Liss Fain Dance - The Water is Clear
Sunday, March 24th, 7:00pm
Main Reading Room
The performing arts often showcase the ability to “bring books to life”, but how far will performers go to give life, motion, and sound to a work of literature? Liss Fain Dance will test the waters at the Mill Valley Public Library on Sunday, March 24th, as this dynamic modern/contemporary dance company transforms the library’s main reading room into the multidimensional set of The Water is Clear and Still, a performance installation based on short fiction by novelist Jamaica Kincaid. The audience sees the performance at close range and from multiple perspectives, surrounded by a surreal set and an immersive sound environment.
Part of the Mill Valley Library’s ongoing series of “After Hours” events, the March 24th Liss Fain performance will take place after-hours in the Library’s Main Reading Room. Doors will open to registered guests at 6:30 pm and will open to the non-registered waitline at 6:45 pm if space is available. There will be limited seating, primarily on benches, as this event is best seen standing and moving around the dancers.
Entry is free and open to the public, and limited to adults and high school students. Registration is recommended. To register, please visit the Mill Valley Public Library's website or contact the library reference desk. For adults and high school students.
