The Library is very fortunate to have four indispensable support organizations:
The Friends of the Mill Valley Library
The Friends is a fifty-year-old volunteer-based organization whose members raise funds for the Library through membership dues and monthly book sales (that require up to sixty volunteers donating 150-200 hours each week to coordinate). The funds it raises support library programming and the circulating collection, among other things. If you'd like to know more about the Friends, including how to become a Friend or help at a book sale, you can do so here. To join the Friends, click here.
The Mill Valley Library Foundation
The Foundation is a nonprofit organization that raises funds for the library through an annual campaign and two annual fundraising events: the Beyond the Book Bash in the fall and the Storybook Ball in the spring. The money it raises supports Library programming as well as creates an endowment to fund future programming and capital needs. If you'd like to know more about the Foundation, including how to donate to its annual campaign or volunteer to help organize an event, you can do so here. The Mill Valley Historical Society
The Historical Society is dedicated to preserving Mill Valley's history, much of which is curated in the Lucretia Little History Room. Historical Society volunteers help staff the History Room, and the Society sponsors the First Wednesday speaker series. The Society also helps fund the Oral History Project, preservation, and infrastructure projects. If you'd like to know more about the Historical Society, including how to become a member, you can do so here.
The Library Board of Trustees
The Board of Trustees consists of five Mill Valley residents appointed by City Council to advise the City Librarian and act as a liaison between the Library and the City. Members serve for up to two three-year terms, and are appointed each February. If you'd like to know more about the Trustees, including how to apply for an open Trustee position, you can do so here.
