City Council will finalize its review and consider formal adoption of the Mill Valley 2040 "MV2040" General Plan, which includes the MV2040 General Plan, 2009-2014 Housing Element and associated Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for the project at its regularly scheduled meeting on October 7, 2013 at 7:30pm. (Mill Valley City Hall, 26 Corte Madera Avenue, Mill Valley).
In addition to being an integral part of the18-month process to develop the MV2040 General Plan, City Council has recently conducted two public hearings (September 16 and 30, 2013) on the project. On October 7th, City Council will conutine with its review of the MV2040 General Plan, starting with the 2009-2014 Housing Element and then reviewing the proposed changes to the MV2040 General Plan and Housing Element based on Planning Commission recommendations, public comment and City Council discussion held during the September 16 and 30th hearings (see attachment 1 below). At the conclusion of the public hearing on October 7, 2013 City Council will consider the adoption of three resolutions as part of the formal adoption and approval process for the General Plan.

The Draft MV2040 General Plan and 2009-2014 Housing Element are a result of community review, input and collaboration that has occurred over the past 18 months through the General Plan Advisory Committee (GPAC), its Working Groups (Land Use & Mobility, Natural Environment and Community Vitality, including the Arts Subcommittee). At various points in the process additional input was provided by City staff and Boards and Commissions, including the Art Commission, Library Board of Trustees, Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee, Parks and Recreation Commission, Emergency Preparedness Commission and Planning Commission. --Thank you!

Draft Documents (MV2040 General Plan, Housing Element and Environmental Impact Report): Initial drafts of the MV2040 General Plan and 2009-2014 Housing Element were made available for public comment in April 2013, prior to three public meetings held by the General Plan Advisory Committee (GPAC). The revised Draft MV2040 General Plan and Housing Element that is before City Council incorporates GPAC comments and comments from the State’s Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) as part of the formal review process for the Housing Element. These draft documents have been available for public comment since July 10, 2013. The recommendations of the Planning Commission are contained in Attachment 1 above.
