The Mill Valley Police Department invites you to participate in NATIONAL NIGHT OUT 2013.
On Tuesday, August 6, 2013 from 6:00 – 8:30 pm Mill Valley will be participating in National Night Out. Always the first Tuesday in August, this national campaign is designed to raise crime prevention awareness, strengthen neighborhood unity and spirit, and develop partnerships between the police department and the community. Neighbors are asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend an evening out with their neighbors and police.
Neighborhood events can be casual and informal such as potlucks, BBQs and ice cream socials or more elaborate such as a street party. This is a night to send a powerful message about neighborhood unity, awareness, safety and police-community partnerships. National Night Out is a good night to get to know your neighbors!
This event has been an opportunity for Neighborhood Watch groups to get together, and for those who do not have one in their area to start new Neighborhood Watch groups. To learn more about Neighborhood Watch and National Night Out 2013, please access the website: www.nationalnightout.org.
The Mill Valley Police Department is supporting the original spirit of National Night Out by inviting residents to turn on their porch lights and get out to meet their neighbors in informal block gatherings and activities. When residents on a block know each other, the neighborhood and the community is safer and stronger.
If your block is a Neighborhood Watch block and you register, we will send a Police representative to visit your event. If your block is not currently part of Neighborhood Watch, this is a great opportunity to get your neighbors interested in joining this valuable crime prevention program.
There is still plenty of time for interested blocks to register in this community-wide focus on crime prevention. The event is open to all residents and blocks in the city limits of Mill Valley. To register your block/event you may:
1) Mail, fax or scan registration form
2) Register by phone - Call CSO Sheryl Patton at 415.389.4100 x4118
Deadline for registration is Tuesday, July 30, 2013
Please help us make your neighborhood safer and take a stand against crime. Please report all criminal behavior, join a neighborhood watch program, and help anyone that might fall victim to a crime. If a Neighborhood Watch doesn’t exist on your block, you can start one with help from the Mill Valley Police Department.
The Mill Valley Police Department looks forward to your participation in National Night Out!
