East Blithedale Summer Construction Update - July 15

Here is the latest news on the East Blithedale road construction project:

  • What has been done: Replacement of the sewer main between Locust Ave and Mesa Ave.
  • What is in progress: Saw cutting for sewer trench construction from Camino Alto to Amicita Ave with a lane closure at this location of approximately 200' - 300'. Sewer line replacement in the vicinity of Hilarita Ave with a lane closure of approximately 200' - 300' between Hilarita Ave and Elm/Locust Ave.
  • What to expect in the next few weeks:  Construction work will continue west towards downtown. On Monday, July 15th construction crews will work on the sewer line in the vicinity of Elm Ave (east of the intersection). From Wednesday July 15th through August 2nd, PG&E will relocate a gas line between Elm Ave and Mesa Ave. The combination of the sewer line and gas line work will cause multiple, alternating lane closures and continued traffic delays.

The City recommends that motorists:

  • Add time to your trip and plan ahead.
  • Please be courteous to your neighbors and do not to cut through the residential side streets during the construction period.
  • Use the recommended detours of Miller Avenue or Camino Alto during construction. See the detour map below:
