In the wake of the Connecticut elementary school shootings, there is a lot of concern and discussion about mental health issues and availability of services to those who may need access professional assistance. The Marin County Department of Community Mental Health provides a complete range of mental health services for children, adults and seniors under the Marin Mental Health Plan. All residents and visitors to Marin County are eligible for these mental health services.

Mental health services include treatment for acute and chronic mental disorders as well as referrals to local mental health practitioners and agencies. Fees are assessed on a sliding scale, based on a person’s ability to pay. Mental health problems vary widely in their severity and duration. Millions of people experience depression, anxiety, stress or difficulty with relationships at various times.

Anyone needing assistance may receive help to work through these issues by calling the Marin Mental Health Plan. Services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
