TOSSED & FOUND
by Anne Cook - bricoleur*
A bricoleur reconsiders, reimagines and reinvents by giving objects a second look and asking if perhaps it can serve another purpose, be reused or combined with another object to become something entirely new.
A discerning scavenger and collector since childhood, I recall making dollhouse furniture from discarded Dixie cups—an early indication of my bricoleur tendencies. I have been collecting my entire life, so I have plenty of material to play with—vintage paper, rusted metal scraps, discarded furniture, pottery shards, beach glass, bones, feathers, beads, buttons, lace, plastic detritus and the list goes on. In addition, I juggle a variety of pursuits which include making assemblage/collage art, designing for my greeting card line Bricolage, upcycling vintage jewelry parts and working to clean up our planet by picking up trash anywhere I find it.
