Law enforcement, criminal investigation, patrol, traffic, crime prevention, and other public safety duties are provided by the Mill Valley Police Department under the direction of J. Angel Bernal.
Police Chief J. Angel Bernal oversees the operations of 21 sworn positions, including two lieutenants, four patrol sergeants, a detective sergeant, two detectives (one serving as the Juvenile Resource Officer), four corporals, and seven patrol officers (including two that are motorcycle officers). Non-sworn personnel include two parking enforcement officers, one community service officer, three administrative clerks, two reserve officers , and one volunteer.Mission
